Back Home Again

It has been a long time since my last update, which was last year in November when I was living in the Middle East. Since that time I have moved to and settled in the United States and have continued work in the Stanford novel writing program. As part of that program, I have written a lot of fiction and have also completed some study of poetry writing this past summer. I am pleased to report that I have been accepted as a member of the Academy of American Poets. One of my poems, “After He Fell,” is posted below in this blog; it is written from the viewpoint of a Marine in battle.

It has been a really rejuvenating and happy experience to be back in the States after many years abroad, and I am gratified that now I have the time to concentrate on my writing. If all goes according to plan, I will complete both a novel and a book of poetry in 2014 and will inform my readers of this blog when they are published. There is no place like home, they say, and after over two decades outside of the good ole’ USA, it is sure great to be back.
